Welcoming in 2014 with an early bedtime and a race.

Happy New Year!

I hope you all enjoyed family, friends, maybe a little champagne sparkling cider. B and I played it real simple with a little party at our hotel. We enjoyed blowing up balloons and piling on all the HNY gear we could find.

We made it to the ball drop in NYC and then I started to fade. I figured better gather my gear before I pass out on the couch.

A little something about my gear that I found hilarious: I hardly packed any. Weird, right? I thought, it's Texas it will be warm. Oh how wrong I was, I had to layer up and wear ear warmers not meant for running. Luckily this time around I was nice and toasty.

The run went great! The course was windier but I had my mom with me, so it was manageable. I even finished at the same pace as the Eve 5K!

One of the coolest part of this race combo was the Challenge Plate you received if you completed both days (the half and full marathons received even larger plates).

All in all I would recommend the race to anyone! It is small, well-organized, and so much fun! I was so happy to make it a part of my New Year's celebrations.

Thank you all for your support in 2013! I look forward to another great year!

Happy Running!
