I think we skipped Fall and dove into Winter.

Being born and raised in Texas, I am accustomed to 100+ degree temperatures and the weather changing at the blink of an eye. The saying goes, "if you don't like Texas weather, just wait 5 minutes". Well, Illinois has tested me in many many ways.

That's right, I woke up to temperatures in the teens! Oh did I mention it is going to warm up by Sunday? My brain and body is so confused on how to tackle the weather. So I am doing it the only way I know how.

The positive: I got to wear all of my favorite gear for one run! I am not going to lie, I wanted to stay in bed this morning, running was not high on the priority list and quite frankly, the thought of ice terrifies me. But, I did it. I ran. I ran slow and focused on not getting hurt.

It felt nice to watch the sun come up and know that this run was truly an accomplishment. I mean, it was 16 degrees out! I am just so thankful that each day I am able to lace up my shoes and hit the pavement.

Plus, with a Midwest winter under my belt, I am able to share everything I learned. Especially when it comes to the gear that keeps me nice and toasty during those early morning runs.

Post to come soon.

I hope you all stay safe out there! Don't let a little cold weather scare you off.

Have a fantastic Wednesday!

Where do you prefer to run during the winter months?

  1. Thank goodness it doesn't get QUITE that cold here. I don't think I could do it!
